I have been using AutoCAD now for fourteen years and had some very good tutoring when I first got started from senior CAD operators I was working with. I have since learned to experiment with AutoCAD customization, writing our own menus, lisp routines and scripts. AutoCAD from the box, how slow and boring. There are so many ways to customized AutoCAD to make it quicker, more efficient and sometimes even more idiot proof. Unfortunately when you think you have them beat someone comes up with a better idiot.

However there are lots of things we find and learn as we go so I think we should be sharing some of this knowledge a bit more. Lets help each other get more out of what we are paying for.

Each of us has our own ideas about the best way to do drawings and use AutoCAD, none of us are necessarily wrong. These are my opinions and experiences, if anyone can show me a better way I am always willing to learn.

Remember, there are no rule books that say work must be boring and no fun. A laugh a day is the best medicine. Have fun and enjoy your work. Look for new challenges and ways to make life easier. I hope you can get some benefit from what we have here.
